Trying to discern the difference between disinformation, misinformation, wishful thinking, pre-screened selective information, and actual facts has become too difficult a task for Distracted Masses to pursue it's original interests in publishing media analysis and current events content. Therefore, we will be pursuing new interests in the areas of science fiction, futurism, reality manifestation, philosophy, and exopolitics. The goal is to create content concerning these areas of interest in a way that can bring new ideas to life. The reason disinformation artists and propagandists are so successful is because they repeat information (true, or not) over and over until the masses have become so inundated with what they're being fed that they eventually have no choice but to accept it as reality. At Distracted Masses we will be using this technique on ourselves as a sort of experiment to see if we can feed ourselves with enough of our own hand-picked and carefully selected information so as to bring a new reality into our lives. We will be sharing this information with those who decide to read Distracted Masses, but in no way are attempting to create new realities for our readers. We have no qualms about using fiction, philosophy, and theory as a way of bringing ideas and the written word to life, but unlike the many disinformation artists out there, we will not sell falsehoods as the truth. Fiction is still fiction, and we will do our best to point that out along the way, but all the same, fiction can be used to create wonderful new realities, right alongside those horrible realities created by the disinfo artists and propagandists.
Blending science fiction and reality together is not necessarily new, but because of the technology and communication devices we have, as well as the new breakthroughs in science, it is much easier to do than ever before. Some of the greatest science fiction writers out there used what they new about technology, politics, and current affairs as a way to make educated guesses as to what the future will be like. Historians also use real maps, manuscripts, photographs, and other materials to help them put together the pieces of the past, but both historians and science fiction writers have to use their own creativity to bring us the full picture, often times giving us accurate visions of the past and/or future, but more often than not they add bits and pieces that never happened or never will happen, or simply leave out information about the reality in it's entirety. Almost always, the "realities" historians and futurists create are never in the now. There is always a time lag before the realities they imagine are manifested into the now. That's where Distracted Masses is different. Distracted Masses will attempt to bring future and past worlds created from our own imaginations alongside tidbits of reality into the now. Future issues of Distracted Masses will show how we've measured and quantified this experiment in a way which shows our successes and failures.
We will use the laws of probability to help bring forth the many different possibilities we discuss into the now. We will feed ourselves information about the reality we know in it's entirety in order to ensure that the possibilities we can manifest in the now are indeed probabilistic possibilities. To some, much of what we know about reality can seem pretty far-fetched, but at Distracted Masses we are very open minded and have no difficulty accepting some far-fetching explanations of reality, such as the multiverse, infinite inflation, the holographic principle, conscious intent, and multidimensional worlds. In fact, the more we feed ourselves information about these theories of reality, the less they seem like theories and more like the truth. But that is for another day. As for now, it is time to give an example of how reality manifestation occurs.
We have to remember there is always a time gap, and that what happens in the future will be the now when we get there, so there are some limitations here. Other than rewriting the history books, it is pretty much impossible to change what already happened, so we are not attempting to create a new past by manifesting a different now, although that may not be totally out of reach for us. What we are trying to do is create a new now from the information created in the past so as to make a future of our choice. It is a bit predictive analysis, a bit precognition, but it's based on probability and information theory, not a crystal ball or some clairvoyant oracle hiding in our basement. To get an idea I will leave you with an example.
Based on where I'm located, and the time and day of the week it is, I can guess as to what is most likely going to occur in my immediate surroundings before I am done writing this blog post. More than likely an airplane will fly overhead, some birds will fly into the yard, a car will drive by, or a siren will ring out. Less likely, but still high on the list, are the chances that my phone will ring or I'll receive a text message or someone I know will stop by to say hi. Even less likely than that is a pile of money will fall from the sky and land in my lap. Still, all these things can probabilistically happen before I'm done writing this, but no matter what, I have to observe those things for them to be considered my reality. My observation of the events is what brings them to life for me, even if they exist without me observing them. My participation in observing my surroundings is crucial to the creation of my reality in the now. My observations are manipulations of the probability lever. If I don't observe my surroundings, the probability of the events occurring that I just described will be less likely to be a part of my reality. Already, I've observed the birds flying into my yard and I just looked up to see if I can spot the plane I hear (I don't see it), and a couple of cars have driven by. But what about the less likely events? How can I manipulate the probability lever in a way to make my phone ring? Simply looking at it doesn't do the trick, and telling someone to call me would be cheating. But what about consciousness? Can I think about my dad calling me, using strong conscious intent, to make that phone ring? I believe I can, but he needs a reason to call, so that has to be put out there too. One of the best reasons I can think of is that he is going out of town and will need me to do some type of errand for him while he is gone. This is where it's important to be specific. How can I know what that errand will be? I can use educated guesses - to water the plants, to fix something, to take care of the dog, to do something for another family member, but I can only guess. I'm not sure, so that's about as close as I can get in order to put that conscious thought into the air that would make him feel the need to call me. So, to see if this is being brought into the now I must go check my phone . . .
As soon as I picked up my phone it vibrated, but it wasn't my dad. It was a promotion/spam notification for some reward program. I also had two new emails and a spam text message, but nothing from my dad. None of the things that did happen while I was writing this post was unusual. The birds, the cars, the airplane, the text messages. Those could all be expected, yet I still had to observe them for them to be a part of my reality. The fact that my dad didn't call, a siren blare out, or a pile of money drop on my lap is not too unusual either, but as far as the experiment goes we'll say this is the first recorded failure - my dad didn't call before I'd come to end of the post. If he had I would call it a success, but for it to be a part of your reality it would have to also be observed by you, so as I become more successful at manifesting the now, the more I will record my own observations to share with you. Until then we'll have to settle with a failure, but we will still continue to feed ourselves with information that will make future attempts at reality manifestation a success. Until then, good luck creating your now!
P.S. About two hours after writing this my aunt called out of the blue just to say she was coming over to say hi, as well as to drop off some sunflowers for me to plant. As you can see there is still a time lag between the now & future manifestations of reality, but they are still very real. As of this time I still have not received a call from my dad and no money has dropped from the sky, but the intent is still there, so perhaps with a little bit more time . . .
